Our history and how we help advisers and their clients.
In late 2008, to help manage clients’ investment and pension wealth more effectively, to ensure clients’ money was managed in line with the right values and ethics, and to provide greater oversight of risk, Future Money was originally established to manage a range of investment solutions for Armstrong Watson clients and now is used by a wider community of independent financial advisers.
Future Money offers a range of independently rated multi-manager investment solutions with different investment objectives. The solutions are managed around a range of risk profiles and the fund managers are able to move quickly as market conditions evolve and opportunities arise. Also, as they utilise an Open-Ended Investment Company (OEIC) structure, this allows changes to be made to investments without triggering a capital gain and potential tax liability.
Throughout our history the Future Money team have sought to deliver portfolio management which serves the needs of clients. The key areas of our focus are:
- Returns measured against inflation, allowing clients to target their real life goals.
- Liquidity in the event clients have unexpected cash needs.
- Risk mitigation.
- Diversification of asset classes.
- Diversification of exposure to fund houses.
- Transparency.
- Service, information and being approachable - working hand in hand with their Financial Planning colleagues.
Our fund managers work closely with Financial Planning Consultants and their clients. They understand the further value that is added through a higher level of communication, building a personal relationship with the Financial Planning Consultants who provide the advice to clients. This means clients, together with their financial adviser, can also speak directly to the fund manager looking after their money if they wish to do so.
PROFESSIONALLY MANAGED, DIVERSIFIED PORTFOLIOS
Future Money multi-manager portfolios are one stop investment solutions. They invest in a variety of funds managed by some of the best and most experienced professional investors, all blended together using the team’s expertise.
INFLATION TARGETED RETURNS
The investment objectives of the Future Money portfolios are to deliver returns which are measured against inflation. This allows clients to target their real life goals for the future rather than using market-based benchmarks, which can lack relevance and often be confusing to understand.
LIQUIDITY A KEY FOCUS
We firmly believe in keeping assets as liquid as possible so they can be accessed as and when clients need their money. Particular attention is paid to the liquidity of an asset when it is being considered by the Future Money team. ‘Could we exit if conditions change’ is a key question for us.
Avoiding commercial property funds has been a result of this focus, meaning the Future Money portfolios have not been affected by the numerous times funds in this sector have suspended client withdrawals in response to market shocks.
Advisers, fund managers and you - our relationship.
Given the close relationships we develop with Financial Planning Consultants, our fund managers can provide more than the standard communication that would be available from a typical fund management group.
We provide detailed analysis of the global economy and investment markets across a range of formats. These include regular discussions and Q&A webinars with Financial Planning Consultants and frequent written market commentaries. We also deliver quarterly webinars for clients. These “Making Sense of Markets” sessions explain how the major stories of the day are affecting markets and how Future Money manages the range of portfolios in the context of these topics.
On top of these regular events our fund managers are always available to Financial Planning Consultants to answer specific questions relating to the portfolios or any ad-hoc market queries.
What’s more, our fund managers can also meet with you, in conjunction with your Financial Planning Consultant, to discuss your investment/pension portfolio on a personal basis. Here you can ask direct questions about how your money is being managed. If you wish to know more please contact your local Financial Planning Consultant.
